Zurken Machines Manufacturer of Planner & Plano miller machine planer is a type of metalworking machine tool that uses linear relative motion between the workpiece and a single-point cutting tool to cut the work piece or also known as job .A planer is similar to a shaper, but larger than the shaper machine and with workpiece moving, whereas in a shaper the cutting tool moves but in planner not like that .The planer is a machine tool designed to produce plane and flat surface on a work piece which is too large or too heavy job . It uses linear relative motion for cutting . Planer machine is large and heavy in weight also . The work piece is securely fixed on a table called platen, and it reciprocates horizontally against a single edged cutting tool . The surface machined may be horizontal, vertical or at an angle .It has marine diesel engine, machine bed and column, blocks and bending plates used for sheet metal work. Double-housing planner is widely used.

Operations of a planer machine: The planer is used for the following operation
1. Planing flat horizontal, vertical and curved surfaces.
2. Planing at an angle and machining dove tails.
3. Planing slots and groves.
The planer are available in different types for doing different types and sizes of job& works the most common being the standard and double housing planer.

Parts of Zurken Planer machine are as below:

Saddle: Saddle is a part to be fixed to ways of cross rail On its front surface are ways to which tool head is fixed jointly by a vertical feed screw that give for a vertical movement of tool head the planner .

Cross rails: Cross rail is a part that is mounting in a horizontal position of vertical way of the housing ,Its function is to take the vertical tool heads which by means of feed screws might be moved as of left to right on the planner .

Tool head: Tool head is a component attach to saddle which contain the tool post, which in turn hold cutting tools of the machine .Tool post is hinged to head so that on come back movement of table the cutting tool force is raise with ride on top of the job. This saves the cutting edge of tool as of being damage and permits the automatic saves supply to function with no intrusion.

Table: The table is a huge rectangular casting to mount on top of bed, on sliding V ways & Its function is to hold the job on the machine

Housing: Housing is huge vertical casting to straddle the table and bed of planer with supports machinery for the process of tool heads.

Bed: Bed is a big box which acts as ground work of the planner machine & Other parts are attaching to or supported by the bed. It is prepared out of high quality cast iron.

Driving and feed mechanism: Drive mechanism is located under the table. The motor drive is mostly at the one side of planner. The tool heads can be fed by power or hand in vertical or cross-wise direction.

The most common applications of planers are :
• Generating accurate flat surfaces. (While not as precise as grinding, a planer can remove a tremendous amount of material in one pass with high accuracy.
• Cutting slots (such as keyways).
• It is even possible to do work that might now be done by wire EDM . Starting from a drilled or cored hole. a planer with a boring-bar type tool can cut internal features that don’t lend themselves to milling or boring.
